LENT SERMON SERIES
"I have called you my friends, for all that I have heard from my father I have made know to you." John 15:15
Ash Wednesday Friends in Jesus: You have a Savior who has lived for you, died for you, and left the tomb empty for you. Your Servant Jesus has humbled himself to care for you. Your Friend, Christ Jesus, has cleansed you from all unrighteousness and washed away your sin. Jesus forgives you and loves you. Jesus is your friend now and for all eternity. |
Week 1 Your healer, Christ Jesus, has good news for you! The healing mercy of Jesus is stronger than the disease of sin. Your Savior, Servant, Friend brings healing to you through the cross and the empty tomb. Jesus forgives you of all your sins, and he applies a healing balm to your heart, soul and all of your life. Because of your friend Jesus, you are forgiven. |
Week 2 Listen now for you will hear Good News! Our Savior, Servant, Friend, Jesus, has heard us confess our sins. He has nailed our sins to the cross, and he has thrown them into the tomb. They are forgiven, and they are gone. Hear these words now as though they were spoken not by me, but by Jesus himself: Friends, your sins are forgiven. |
Week 3 Take courage, friends! Jesus forgives you of all of your sins. Let your hearts be strengthened, your souls be refreshed, your minds be renewed and your spirits be encouraged. Jesus has nailed your sins to the cross and thrown them into the tomb. Having been forgiven by Jesus, let us now live for him. |
Week 4 Your friend Jesus does indeed have mercy! Jesus protects you from the punishment of sin as he has lived for you, died for you, risen for you, and now forgives you of all of your sins. His mercy provides protection, and his salvation makes you new. Rejoice now in the protecting presence and forgiveness of your friend Jesus! |
Week 5 Comfort, comfort my people, says our God! Our friend Jesus faced the discomfort and pain of the cross in order to forgive us of all our sins. In the stead and by the command of our friend, Jesus Christ, I declare to you the forgiveness of all your sins and the comforting assurance that are set free from sin and shame. |
