The mission of Open M, a Christian ministry in South Akron, is to provide pathways out of poverty for all by feeding the hungry, caring for the sick and strengthening the community. Our church supports Open M by: providing 4 grab & go lunches a year for 100 people, serving watermelon to 150 people at the picnic in July, purchasing Christmas gifts for 35+ children, providing 400 food items for the Christmas meal boxes for families and providing monthly donations of food for the pantry. For more information, please contact Debbie Rudder. |
Prayer Shawls are handmade knitted, crocheted, or quilted shawls made by members of our congregation. The shawls are displayed on a quilt rack in the front of the sanctuary for our congregation to pray over the shawls. Our Visitation Pastor delivers a shawl to someone during his home and hospital visits. Congregation members can also take a shawl to a friend in need of prayers. Being wrapped in a shawl brings comfort to those in need when they cannot join us in church. For more information, please contact Susan Hohs. |

Founded in 1940, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the global humanitarian relief agency of The United Methodist Church. A part of Global Ministries, UMCOR works in more than 80 countries worldwide. The agency’s mission, grounded in the teachings of Jesus, is to alleviate human suffering. Working in the areas of disaster response and recovery, sustainable development and migration, UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters that are interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own.
