It's that time again! Choir practice will be starting up in just a few short weeks and there are a couple of changes I want to pass on to you. I hope you are having a great summer. I'm sure you all have been singing on a regular basis and will be ready to jump right in. I have chosen exciting music for the year. I know you will enjoy singing ALL of it! As I said, I have made a couple of changes so please read on so you are "in the know".
1. Our first rehearsal will be WEDNESDAY, September 8th. I have a required Malone event on Thursday of that week. We must have a rehearsal however as Sunday, the 12th is our first time singing in the services. Our rehearsal will begin at 8:00 p.m.
2. We will sing in both services on September 12th.
3. I have been giving a lot of thought to the present choir structure over the summer months. I have come to realize that we as a choir simply need more rehearsal time. One hour a week is just not enough. So beginning on Thursday, September 16th our weekly rehearsal will begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 8:45 p.m. This will give us 15 extra minutes of much needed rehearsal time.
4. Now I know you are all thinking, "what about the men's and women's ensembles?" For the next 4 months (through Christmas) these ensembles will sing on an occasional basis. My reason for this is simple. I strongly believe that a strong choral program in any situation must rest on the foundation of the SATB choir. A strong choir then serves as a "home base" for other choirs and ensembles to be built from. While we have made significant progress as a choir over the past year, we need to continue to build both musically and spiritually. By putting more effort into the choir, other ensembles can be added and built down the road. WE ARE NOT DISBANDING THE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S ENSEMBLES. We are simply taking a step back for a few weeks to make sure we are building the strongest choral program possible at Macedonia Methodist Church.
5. If you know of someone who should be singing with us, please pass their name onto me or simply invite them to our first rehearsal. I would love to see 30 - 35 singers in the choir this year.

No Experience Necessary!!!
Have you ever wanted to become more involved in our church? Perhaps you are looking for a way to meet some new people. Regardless of your reason, our church's handbell choirs need YOU!!!! We are looking for new ringers of all ages and skill levels. Youth grades 7-12 will be holding their first rehearsal Sunday September 12th at 12pm. Adults ages 18 and up will be holding their first rehearsal Thursday September 16th at 7pm. Even if these times are not the most convenient for you we invite you to attend the first rehearsals where we will discuss future meeting times that suit the groups needs.
